Keeneland September Sale Alumni Instilled Regard, Mourinho Establish Classic Credentials with Electrifying Season Debuts

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 16, 2018) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale alumni Instilled Regard and Mourinho, both California invaders, opened their sophomore seasons with clear wins at Fair Grounds and Oaklawn Park, respectively, to earn points on the 2018 Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1). Instilled Regard took command in midstretch and pulled away to a 3¾-length victory over a strong field in the Lecomte (G3) at Fair Grounds on Saturday. At Oaklawn on Monday, Mourinho swept to a front-running, 3¼-length win in the Smarty Jones, his first two-turn test.

A neck separated Keeneland sales graduates Stronger Than Ever and Wonder Gadot in the Silverbulletday at Fair Grounds on Saturday, with each filly earning points on the 2018 Road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1).

The La Canada (G2) on Saturday at Santa Anita came down to a stretch battle between Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale graduates Mopotism and Mended, with the former prevailing by a head at the wire.
