Lark Rise, a broodmare prospect by More Than Ready consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent for Juddmonte Farms, sold to Glennwood Farm for the session-topping price of $325,000 on Sunday during the fifth day of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Keeneland sold 248 horses on Sunday for $14,169,500, for an average of $57,135 and a median of $43,000.
A total of 1,154 horses have grossed $168,962,700 through five sessions at the November Sale, for an average of $146,415 and a median of $80,000.
Session topper Lark Rise, who was the fourth horse offered for sale on Sunday, is a 3-year-old filly out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Tare Green. She is from the family of Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) as well as Broodmare of the Year Hasili (IRE), Canadian Horse of the Year and sire Champs Elysees (GB), champions Banks Hill (GB) and Intercontinental (GB), Group 1 winner Promising Lead (GB) and English and French highweight and sire Dansili (GB).
Sunday’s top-priced weanling is a colt from the first crop by Connect purchased by Dailey Bloodstock for $250,000. Paramount Sales, agent, consigned the colt, who is a half-brother to stakes winner Savings Account. His dam is the stakes-winning Unbridled’s Song mare Will Hoots, a full sister to Grade 1 winner Buddha.
Anderson Farms paid $230,000, the session’s third highest price, for Kasbach, a 4-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro in foal to Kantharos. Consigned by Indian Creek, agent, she is a half-sister to stakes winner Wild Bud. Kasbach is out of stakes winner Wild Wind (GER), by Danehill Dancer, and from the family of Group 1 winners Kingmambo, East of the Moon, Rumplestiltskin (IRE) and Loves Only You.
John Williams, agent, paid $225,000 for Holiday’s Angel, a 5-year-old stakes-placed daughter of Harlan’s Holiday in foal to Constitution. Consigned by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services, agent, the mare is out of Senorita Corredora, by El Corredor, and from the family of Grade 3 winners Dark Nile, Thatlookonyerface and Lou Brissie.
LBD Stable purchased stakes winner Our Super Freak, cataloged as a racing or broodmare prospect, for $210,000. ELiTE, agent, consigned the 3-year-old daughter of Mineshaft out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Thatcher. Our Super Freak is from the family of stakes winners Shine Upon, Tiz Time to Shine, Notice Me, Kona Way and Give Notice.
Sheamus Mills Bloodstock went to $200,000 to acquire Backflash, a 3-year-old broodmare prospect by Medaglia d’Oro consigned by Gainesway, agent. The filly is a stakes-placed winner out of the Tapit mare Time to Tap, a daughter of Broodmare of the Year Fun House who is a full sister to champion Untapable and a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Paddy O’Prado.
On Sunday, Taylor Made Sales Agency led consignors with sales of $2,075,500 for 39 horses.
Calumet Farm was the leading buyer, purchasing seven horses for $432,000.
The November Sale resumes Monday at 10 a.m. ET with the start of the two-day Book 4. The auction runs through Sunday, Nov. 17, with all sessions beginning at 10 a.m.
